The first trip of the new year began with an excellent lunch at the White Buck in Burley before visiting the Wyrd Gin Distillery in Ringwood. Head Distiller, Mark Williams, gave an informative and very entertaining talk on his 30 years experience blending ingredients and flavours to produce the perfect handcrafted gin. The secret is a blend of fine-grain spirit, pure New Forest spring water and the finest botanicals from around the world. It was fascinating to hear about the history of gin and the production process, particularly from a local company (and the only distillery within the New Forest National Park). We had the opportunity to sample their award winning Wyrd Dry Gin, Rhubarb Gin and Damson Gin.
