Treasure Hunt and BBQ  led by Adrian Butterworth

The scene was set with Treasure Hunters Queued up outside Adrian's House at !0am sharp. The route was very scenic taking many of us to parts of the forest we had not previously visited. We soon realised that it would have been sensible to  study all of the clues before setting off with the car. At about clue 3 we made the mistake of assuming the carving of a bird with an enormous beak was a woodpecker. This was quickly followed with a question only Ian Hayter could have answered. What used to stand at this junction. A 1950's RAC BOX was the answer. Other memorable clues related to Alice Lisle born at Moyles Court. Adrian not only wanted to know where she was buried but also where her head ended up since she was beheaded. One of the last clues related to what Brockenhurst Probus members always want with their pudding. Custard!

When finished we returned to Adrian's woodland garden for a BBQ. This was timely as we had been on the go for more than 3 hours. Large baps with a burger sausage and accoutrements were served washed down with whatever beverages we had remembered to bring. The winners were Colin and Moira Isenman who, after rummaging through Colin's junk, took advantage of an ancient o/s map of the Forest with an R on it denoting an RAC Box. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and many thanks to Kay and Adrian for organising it and hosting it.
