Strictly behind the Seams was one year in the planning. It was a vast project involving many people in different locations. It started with Keith Hoyle asking his old company DSI if they would be prepared to bring their Costumes to Brockenhurst. They make all the costumes for Strictly come Dancing on the BBC. They also agreed to bring two of the top amateur pairs in the UK to Dance some Latin Dances. Lloyd and Anna are the UK Amateur Champions and Gustav and Ella were number 3. These dancers are sponsored by DSI.To support the show with sound and light, a local group from Lymington, Shining Lights consisting of children between the ages of 10 and 14 were selected. The real work then began for Richard Burt and Lindsey Hoyle. Lindsey focussed on the show working out the content, the timings, and getting information from the dancers and DSI. She also built a website to control the booking and do the ticketing for the show. Richard on the logistics. The hall, the support team and what everyone would be doing on the days. Both Lindsey and Richard had very detailed plans and from the level of performances on the days it was clear everything had been well thought out.
The show was spectacular, the audiences left surprised that a show of this quality could be produced in Brockenhurst. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed the experience.
So what were the outcomes:
A significant number of probus members worked closely together under pressure having fun and getting to know each other better.
The village hall was packed with 172 people for both performances
The new bar in the village hall, still being built two days before the event, served beverages before the show and in the intermission.
The carparking system requiring registration numbers had its first big test.
Shining Lights, a group of children aged between 10 and 14, did the lighting and sound like professionals with years of experience.
Even the DSI people learned alot by having their dancers included in the show.
Two Charities - Oakhaven and Honeypot will receive much needed funds
The village is far more aware of our club and so this will help us get new members to keep the membership young and fresh.

Thanks to Keith for the vision and his contacts, to Lindsey for pulling together and organising a wonderful show and to Richard for the long hours and precision planning that supported the performers and the logistics of the show.
