BBQ and Treasure Hunt led by Bruce Mc Farlane and Thorold Masefield
On another beautiful day for an Event which was held in Thorold's beautiful woodland garden. 44 of us enjoyed a BBQ in a garden that was cool and well shaded. Bruce, a master chef, when it comes to mass BBQ catering for scouts brought his skils to upmarket BBQing. He was reluctant to have his scullery maid Dave Bramley forced upon him. Dave boasting BBQing skills gained from family BBQs was given sausages to cremate. A wonderful array of salads were prepared by the Probus WAGs. Plenty was prepared, a week later Athol is still curating (the new word for throwing together) new dishes based on Coleslaw.
The treasure hunt with 8 couples taking part was won by John and Tracy Gribble by quite a margin scoring 30pts out of 37pts. The route was local around Sway and down to Ampress Park. There was animated discussion about the number of pubs encountered on the journey. John and Tracy claimed five when the actual number was three. They were accused of seeing double having clearly made stops at the pubs. It was decided amongst the contestants this was not an easy test.
Amply supplied with their own drinks merry laughter was heard across the meadow it was universally agreed that a great day was had by all.
Thanks to Bruce for all his hard work in organising it and to Thorold for providing his woodland garden for the event.
Sadly we were all enjoying ourselves so much that we forgot to take photographs. If anyone has any no matter how good please send them to Dave Bramley for inclusion on this page
