Rob Evison's Wine Tasting 20th September 2024

 

On a wet September evening 22 Probus members, family, friends and guests met at St Saviour’s Church rooms for this year’s wine tasting event. Once again it was expertly hosted by member Rob Evison who provided his own knowledgable insight into viticulture and wine tasting. Previous events have appreciated red and rose wine, this time it was the turn of white. The six carefully selected white wines were from Abruzzo Italy, Cotes Catalanes France, Aconcagua Chile, Bourgogne France and two from  South Africa. After a discussion on each, and a generous tasting, the competition began! Three of the six were presented blind as a test of observation, taste and smell. With two out of three correct the winner was one of our guests Stephen Burt. It was an enjoyable evening and thanks go to Rob for organising and hosting such a successful event.
